The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and CEPES constitute the "Table of the Social Economy"

The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and CEPES gave the green light to the "Table of Social Economy", set up yesterday with the presence of the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz; the General Director of Autonomous Work, Social Economy and CSR, Maravillas Espín; the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, and a delegation from the Board of Directors of the employers of the Social Economy. The "Social Economy Roundtable" is created as a tool to contribute to the Social Dialogue of Government and social agents, contributing to the demands of the Social Economy sector in the short, medium and long term for the recovery of employment and for reindustrialization, in addition that it will make visible and promote the key role that Social Economy Companies have in the economic recovery.

• At a meeting chaired by the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, who was accompanied by the general director of Autonomous Work, Social Economy and CSR, Maravillas Espín, and by the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, accompanied by a delegation of the Board of Directors, as employer of the Social Economy.

• The “Social Economy Table” is created as a tool to contribute to the Social Dialogue of the Government and social agents, contributing to the demands of the Social Economy sector in the short, medium and long term for the recovery of employment and for reindustrialization, In addition, it will make visible and promote the key role that Social Economy Companies have in the economic recovery.

• The CEPES president argued, with a battery of proposals, how the Social Economy is going to be an essential lever in the economic, industrial, social and territorial reconstruction that Spain will need.

• In this Table, it is planned to have conversations with other Ministries and Autonomous Governments to transfer measures and initiatives that promote economic recovery and employment in Spain.

• The President of CEPES assured Yolanda Díaz “that the ERTE and cessation of activity of the Social Economy companies have served to maintain jobs and points out that in the de-escalation practically 100% of jobs will be recovered. The resilience of the Social Economy is once again showing strength once again ”.

 

Madrid, May 15, 2020.- The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) gave the green light to the "Table of Social Economy", established yesterday with the presence of the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz ; the general director of Autonomous Work, Social Economy and CSR, Maravillas Espín ; the president of CEPES , Juan Antonio Pedreño , and a delegation from the Board of Directors of the employers of the Social Economy.

The Minister stressed "that this Table is very important for the Government as it aims not only to recognize the key role of the Social Economy in economic recovery and employment in Spain, but to promote and enhance the Spanish Social Economy, currently an international benchmark ”.

Díaz added that "in the meeting held recently with the European Commissioner for Employment, Nicolas Schmit" , he was able to corroborate "the role that this business model is playing in this crisis, not only in Spain, due to the strength of the sector, but also at the European level, where the Social Economy is showing a very constructive attitude to provide measures for economic recovery and mitigate the effects that COVID-19 has left ”.

Pedreño thanked the Ministry for its willingness and willingness to dialogue in light of the proposals that CEPES has been submitting, although it raised with the minister the need for CEPES 'presence in Forums and other Dialogue Tables where economic and industrial measures are being designed, and employment that directly affect the more than 42,000 Social Economy companies and more than 2.3 million jobs.

The president of the employers' association of the Social Economy added that "CEPES has a battery of proposals of a very different nature whose objective is to contribute to the economic, industrial, social and territorial reconstruction that Spain will need." In addition, he showed his “absolute willingness to work with theGovernment and with the rest of socioeconomic actors in this great challenge that we have ahead to recover, as soon as possible, the levels of employment and wealth ”.

Commitment to employment

Pedreño also reminded the minister and her team that "Social Economy companies are working tirelessly to secure jobs and for companies to overcome this crisis and start operating at full capacity."

The president of CEPES assured Yolanda Díaz “that the ERTE and cessation of activity of the Social Economy companies have served to maintain jobs and points out that in the de-escalation practically 100% of jobs will be recovered . The resilience of the Social Economy is once again showing strength once again ”.

During the meeting, apart from explaining the role of the Social Economy for Recovery, the analysis of the main demands of the Social Economy during the health crisis was addressed, evaluating the measures already adopted and those pending and also discussed the key role of the Social Economy in Europe.

In addition, the president of the Employers of the Social Economy specified that "from this crisis we will come out again for entrepreneurship, not only for the individual, less resilient, but mainly for collective employment , and before the fourth industrial revolution we must bet more than never for human capital ”.

In addition Pedreño announced that "we will generate programs and proposals to support young people from the university and vocational training to support them in collective entrepreneurship projects , so that this human potential stays here and does not go elsewhere. Human capital must be used as a lever for this regeneration-recovery and reindustrialization. ” These projects should be able to access loans guaranteed by the government in a percentage to facilitate investment.

Next Friday, May 22, this MESA meets again, to which the General Director of Labor will be invited to address the situation of ERTES and cessations in Social Economy companies, in addition to the fact that the first CEPES proposals for the recovery of employment and companies in Spain,
