Madrid, November 12, 2019.- The president of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), Juan Antonio Pedreño , has called for consensus political formations to form a government agreement that grants stability to Spain.

“After four general elections in four years, and despite the advances that have been announced today in this regard, an exercise of responsibility and commitment on the part of our political representatives is necessary to reach a stable government that allows addressing, in a consensual way, the important challenges that we are going to face economically, socially and environmentally ”, said the president of CEPES.

Pedreño has underlined the will of CEPES, as Spanish employer of the Social Economy, to collaborate with the new Government and the different parliamentary groups to develop legislative proposals that, through the Social Economy, favor the creation of employment and wealth, ensure the Welfare State and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

The president of CEPES has also specified the convenience - according to the proposal made by the previous Government of Spain - to create in this new legislature a Secretary of State for Social Economy or, failing that, an interministerial commission on this business model that It represents 10% of Spanish GDP and 12.5% of employment .

Likewise, Pedreño recalled that “the main political parties recognize the Social Economy as an important part of the 'Spain brand' for its values and its ability to combine economic and social profitability, with quality, peer and inclusive jobs; and with committed companies that do not relocate and maintain a strong commitment to the territory in which they were born. ” “Therefore,” he adds, “we trust that in the new legislature our business model will occupy the position that corresponds to it due to its socio-economic importance in the policies developed by the Government and the General Courts.”
