The National Confederation that represents the entire Portuguese Social Economy is born

CEPES, through its president, Juan Antonio Pedreño, participated in the National Congress of Portuguese Social Economy, where the constitution of the dome organization that will represent the entire Portuguese Social Economy was formalized

• Constituted by 9 entities representing 61,268 Social Economy entities and companies, 6% of employment and 2.8% of gross value added.

• CEPES has participated from the beginning in the whole process of constitution of this new Confederation, transferring the experience of Spain.

• The act of incorporation was framed in the National Congress of the Portuguese Social Economy, which was attended by more than 500 people and was inaugurated by the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, José Antonio Vieira da Silva.

 

Lisbon, November 17, 2017.- The Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), through its president, Juan Antonio Pedreño, participated in the National Congress of Portuguese Social Economy, where the constitution of the dome organization was formalized that will represent the entire Portuguese Social Economy.

This new Confederation, made up of 9 entities, represents the interests of 61,268 companies, 6% of employment and a turnover that represents 2.8% of gross value added (GVA).

For years, CEPES has participated in the entire constitution process of this new Confederation, attending meetings and participating in other events and congresses that have created this initiative. For Pedreño, "the constitution of this Organization is a historical fact and of fundamental importance for the Portuguese and European Social Economy".

 

The nine entities that make up the new Organization are:

• Confederation of Portuguese Cooperatives.

• National Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives and Agricultural Credit of Portugal.

• Portuguese Mutualities Union.

• Portuguese Association of Local Development.

• National Council for the Social Economy.

• Portuguese Foundations Center.

• Portuguese Confederation of Culture, Recreation and Sports Colectivities.

• National Confederation of Solidarity Institutions.

• Union of Portuguese Misericordias.

The president of CEPES spoke at the round table "the challenges of the Social Economy in a European Union", where he explained the main challenges and challenges of the Social Economy in the different Member States and in the Community Institutions, highlighting the great opportunity that introduces you to the Portuguese Social Economy with this initiative.

Also participating in the Spanish delegation were Miguel Ángel Cabra de Luna , representative of CEPES in the European Economic and Social Committee, and José Luis Monzón , as president of the Scientific Commission of CIRIEC ESPAÑA.
