Leire Mugerza Garate, Vice-President of CEPES, appointed member of the Economic and Social Council

Leire Mugerza Garate, Fourth Vice-President of CEPES, has been appointed as a member of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) representing the social economy sector. This has been reflected in the BOE published today, which includes this appointment at the proposal of the second vice president and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, after deliberation of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday. With this incorporation in the CES, the representatives of CEPES in this body are, Juan Antonio Pedreño, Jerónima Bonafé, Emili Villaescusa and the newly appointed, Leire Muguerza.

Madrid, October 26, 2022.- Leire Mugerza Garate, fourth vice-president of CEPES (the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy), has been appointed member of the Economic and Social Council (CES) representing the social economy sector.

This has been reflected in the BOE published today, which includes this appointment at the proposal  of the vicepresident segunda  and minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, after deliberation of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday. Thus, Mugerza replaces Francisco Javier Goienetxea Urkaregi as a member of the Council.

Mugerza is president of the Permanent Commission and the Congress of Mondragón and has more than 25 years dedicated professionally in the field of social economy, having worked in companies such as EIKA, Eroski or the Mondragon Corporation. Also, in May of this year she was elected fourth vice-president of CEPES.

The Economic and Social Council is the Government´s main advisory body on socio-economic and labour matters.  Composed of a total of 61 members, they make up  the main business and trade union organizations and other organizations representing a broad spectrum of civil society (organizations of the agricultural, maritime-fishing sector, consumers and  users and social economy), in addition to 6 experts of recognized prestige chosen by the Government.

Founded in 1992, theCES develops its consultative work through opinions on draft laws on socioeconomic and labor matters sent by the Government; reports on its own initiative and the annual preparation of a socioeconomic and labor report where the highlights of each year in these matters are analyzed.

With this incorporation in the CES, the representatives of CEPES in this body are, Juan Antonio Pedreño, Jerónima Bonafé, Emili Villaescusa and the newly appointed, Leire Mugerza.
