Political representatives at the state, autonomic and international levels will meet in Madrid on the 10th anniversary of the approval of the Spanish Social Economy Law

CEPES, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, will bring together in Madrid the highest political representatives at the state, regional and international level responsible for the promotion of this business model since the spanish Social Economy Law (Law 5/2011 on Social Economy) was approved in March 2011, a pioneer in the international arena and which was unanimously approved in the Congress of Deputies

·        In an international event organized by the Employers of the Social Economy, CEPES, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, on March 17 from 09.30h to 12.00h.

·        "Madrid once again becomes the European capital of the SocialEconomy, bringing together the highest representatives of the Government of Spain, former ministers, representatives of the Community institutions and European Governments, the Autonomous Communities and the deputies who have contributed from their responsibilities to the development of the Social Economy in the last ten years,   a unique opportunity to thank you for your commitment to this business model," says Juan Antonio Pedreño, president of CEPES.

·        During the event, the advances and socio-economic impact of Spanish social economy companies will be valued and made visible after the approval of the Spanish law approved unanimously and pioneering at the international level.

·        The event has the sponsorship of 11 entities of the Social Economy, thanks to which this important event can be celebrated in a hybrid way and that can be followed in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese. Madrid, March 2, 2022.- The Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), with the collaboration of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, will bring together the highest political representatives at the state, regional and international level responsible for promoting this business model since the Approval of the Spanish Social Economy Law (Law 5/2011 on Social Economy) in March 2011,  pioneer in the international arena and was unanimously approved in the Congress of Deputies.

The event aims to highlight and make visible the advances and socio-economic impact of Spanish social economy companies after the approval of the law and make a public recognition of the institutional commitment of the personalities responsible for promoting this business model during the last ten years.

The inauguration will be in charge of the president of CEPES and Social Economy Europe, Juan Antonio Pedreño, and the Secretary of State for Employment and Social Economy, Joaquín Pérez Rey.

At the event, CEPES is expected to recognize former ministers Celestino Corbacho, Valeriano Gómez, Fátima Báñez and Magdalena Valerio, as well as the current second vice president and minister Yolanda Díaz for their contribution to the development and promotion of this business model in these years.

Likewise, it is planned to recognize the seven rapporteurs of Law 5/2011, Carles Campuzano Canadé, Esperanza Esteve i Ortega, Gaspar Llamazares Trigo, Lourdes Méndez Monasterio, Carmen Quintanilla Barba, Emilio Olabarria Muñoz, and Joan Tardá i Coma, for their commitment in the approval of this Law unanimously of parliamentary arc

The event will be used to analyze the impact that the law is having on the territories, as regulations regulating the Social Economy in different Autonomous Communities are subsequently approved. Thus, a colloquium will be held between the Minister of Economic and Business Development of the Autonomous Community of Navarra, Mikel Irujo Amezaga; the Minister of Economic Model, Tourism and Work of the Balearic Government, Iago Negueruela i Vázquez; the General Director of Social Economy and Autonomous Work of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Pascual del Riquelme; and the Minister of Employment and Equality of the Xunta de Galicia,  Maria Jesus Lorenzana.

In addition, there will be the participation of the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of Portugal, Ana Mendes; the Minister of Labour and Social Policies of Italy, Andrea Orlando; the Secretary of State for Social and Solidarity Economy of France, Olivia Grégoire; and the Second Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister of Labour and Social Economy,  Yolanda Diaz. All of them countries of reference and that have advanced policies of this business model.

On the other hand, the Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights of the European Commission, Nicolas Schmit, will present in Spain the European Action Plan for the Social Economy 2022-2025, approved by the College of Commissioners on December 8, 2021 and its impact on the Member States.
