CEPES seals in La Moncloa its adhesion to the 'Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance' in an act chaired by Pedro Sánchez

CEPES signed today in La Moncloa its adherence to the Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance, promoted by the Presidency of the Government. In an event chaired by Pedro Sánchez himself, CEPES confirmed its commitment to, together with more than 70 entities of the Administration, the business sector and the third sector, to fight against child poverty. The ultimate goal of the Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance is to fight against inequalities and poverty that affect children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, since 27.4% of children in Spain continue to be at risk of poverty.

• During the event, an agreement signed by the High Commissioner for the Fight against Child Poverty of the Government of Spain, Ernesto Gasco, and the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, and more than 70 entities from different fields were signed.

• CEPES, with its adhesion to the Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance, is committed to developing actions aimed at fulfilling the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as carrying out actions so that the Rights of the Child are recognized worldwide and eradicate child poverty.

• Juan Antonio Pedreño, president of CEPES stressed that "we have the obligation to build a better future, and end child poverty that affects more than 630,000 boys and girls, and 2.3 million if we attend to the moderate poverty rate" .

 

Madrid, February 3, 2021.- The Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES) signed today in La Moncloa its adherence to the Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance, promoted by the Presidency of the Government. In an event chaired by Pedro Sánchez himself, CEPES confirmed its commitment to, together with more than 70 entities of the Administration, the business sector and the third sector, to fight against child poverty.

The objectives pursued by this agreement are: to align efforts and facilitate the coordination of all the actors involved to respond to these challenges and measure the results; promote innovation in the fight against child poverty; mobilize new resources that consolidate the commitment of the members of the Alliance; and give visibility to the problem of child poverty in our country and analyze its causes, consequences and solutions.

The agreement has been signed by the High Commissioner for the Fight against Child Poverty of the Government of Spain, Ernesto Gasco , the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño , as well as representatives of the other entities. The ultimate goal of the Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance is "to fight against inequalities and poverty that affect children and adolescents in vulnerable situations." And it is that 27.4% of boys and girls in Spain continue to be at risk of poverty.

“CEPES and all companies and entities of the Spanish Social Economy are firmly committed to forging a 'country alliance' against child poverty and, together with administrations, civil society and the private sector, advance the objectives of the 2030 Agenda to build a sustainable and prosperous future for the next generations, "Pedreño said.

The president of CEPES stressed that “we have the obligation to build a better future, and end child poverty that affects more than 630,000 boys and girls, and 2.3 million if we attend to the moderate poverty rate, according to the data that recently announced the Prime Minister. These are data of poverty that we cannot afford and to which we have to react. The future has to be one of progress, sustainability, inclusion and well-being; and all our actions must be aimed at guaranteeing it ”.

CEPES, with its adhesion to the Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance, is committed to developing actions aimed at complying with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as carrying out actions so that the Rights of the Child are recognized worldwide and eradicate the child labor.
