The President of the Government confirms the active participation of CEPES and the Social Economy in the recovery plans and funds

In a meeting with a delegation from the CEPES Board of Directors, the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, confirmed the key role that the Social Economy will play within the recovery policies

• During a meeting held in La Moncloa by Pedro Sánchez with the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, and a delegation from the Board of Directors of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES).

• The president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, has asked in the meeting for a more active participation in the negotiation tables where public policies are built, in addition to being a key actor in the Recovery Funds and Plans (Next Generation).

• Pedreño: “From the Social Economy, at this moment, we want to contribute to rebuilding Spain, but we want to rebuild it better. For this reason, we have conveyed to Pedro Sánchez that, with the necessary resources in the recovery policies, the Social Economy would not only maintain employment, but it also estimates that 50,000 new jobs could be generated when the funds arrive ”.

• Pedreño: “We are companies of the future, socially and economically profitable, with values such as social and economic resilience, territorial and social cohesion, sustainable and inclusive, committed to their territory and not relocating, that reduce inequalities and bet on the necessary digital transformation as a measure to improve competitiveness that allows to continue creating stable employment.

 

Madrid, September 24, 2020.- The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez , confirmed today the key role that the Social Economy will play within the recovery policies, during a meeting held today in La Moncloa with the Minister of Labor and Economy Social, Yolanda Díaz , and a delegation from the Board of Directors of the employer's association of this business model (CEPES).

“Pedro Sánchez has ratified his support for the Social Economy, from the need and conviction that Spain needs our business model to play an active role in reconstruction policies, due to our capacity for resilience and especially its contribution to cohesion. territorially and to generate stable and quality employment ”, specified the president of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), Juan Antonio Pedreño .

“An important announcement is that the President of the Government has ratified the participation of CEPES and the Social Economy in the recovery funds (Next Generation) of the EU, in which we will work together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and the team economic of the Cabinet of the Presidency ”, added Pedreño.

“From the Social Economy, at this moment, we want to contribute to rebuilding Spain, but we want to rebuild it better. For this reason, we have told Pedro Sánchez that, with the necessary resources in the recovery policies, the Social Economy would not only maintain employment, but it also estimates that 50,000 new jobs could be generated when the funds arrive, ”said the president of CEPES.

“The current situation offers an impetus to make bold decisions to build a sustainable and inclusive future. In this sense, it seems to us of great importance that the President of the Government defines our business model as a main actor within reconstruction policies to build a sustainable and inclusive future with companies committed to people and territories ”.

“This Covid-19 crisis invites us to rethink goals such as efficiency and resilience, while providing an opportunity to improve people's lives. In this sense, the Social Economy reinforces the transition towards more resilient societies through its principles (solidarity, cooperation and economic and social impact), it can inspire the rest of the companies towards presponsible practices, coinciding economic and social objectives, ”Pedreño added.

The president of CEPES announced that “we want to contribute to give our society a different shape and develop a shared vision to better rebuild Spain, which is our goal. Therefore, we ask for seats at the tables where public policies are built. From the Social Economy we are companies of the future, socially and economically profitable, with values such as social and economic resilience, territorial and social cohesion, sustainable and inclusive, committed to their territory and not relocating, that reduce inequalities and bet on the necessary digital transformation as a measure to improve competitiveness that allows to continue creating stable employment ”.

In the meeting with the President of the Government, the President of CEPES recalled the "enviable behavior" of the Social Economy during confinement, in which many companies reoriented their production to manufacture sanitary and protective equipment, ensure the production and distribution of food and basic services or maintain healthcare services.

During the meeting, CEPES appreciated the work of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, especially that of Minister Yolanda Díaz and her entire team for their support to the Social Economy and for the implementation of numerous initiatives, as is the design of the new Spanish Social Economy Strategy 2021-2027 that has already begun to work with CEPES and with all the Autonomous Communities.
