CEPES, as employer of the Social Economy, will be a strategic ally of the Government of Spain so that the capital of Toledo is an international benchmark in Social Economy. The appointment of Toledo as the European Capital of the Social Economy was agreed on May 28 at the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Luxembourg Declaration, made up of 16 EU governments committed to the Social Economy. Toledo aims to reinforce the work already carried out by the previous European capitals of the Social Economy, Madrid 2017, Maribor 2018 (Slovenia) and Strasbourg 2019 (France) with the challenge of making visible and promoting the European Social Economy.

• Toledo will be the European capital of the Social Economy during 2020, after the agreement on 28 May of the Monitoring Committee of the Luxembourg Declaration made up of 16 EU Governments.

• Toledo will reinforce the work of the previous European capitals of the Social Economy, Madrid 2017, Maribor 2018 (Slovenia) and Strasbourg 2019 (France), with the aim of making visible and promoting the European Social Economy.

• The Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, participated in the presentation of Toledo as the European Capital, highlighting the important role that CEPES plays "a true traveling companion in the task of making this business model visible and promoting".

• The President of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, stressed “the importance of the Capital of Toledo, since it will allow reinforcing Spain's international leadership in Social Economy at a European level, in a year in which we will also work to ensure that the Plan for European Action of the Social Economy is ready to be approved in 2021 ”.

• The official logo of the Capital was presented at the event and Minister Diaz announced that "throughout this year there will be local, regional and international meetings and activities that will make the Social Economy visible and will place it as the backbone of a decisive moment as we are in after the crisis caused by COVID 19 ”.

The appointment of Toledo as the European Capital of the Social Economy was agreed on May 28 at the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Luxembourg Declaration, made up of 16 EU governments committed to the Social Economy. Toledo aims to reinforce the work already carried out by the previous European capitals of the Social Economy, Madrid 2017, Maribor 2018 (Slovenia) and Strasbourg 2019 (France) with the challenge of making visible and promoting the European Social Economy.

The presentation ceremony of the Capital of Toledo was held in the Chapter Hall of the Toledo City Council and the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz; the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment of Castilla-La Mancha , Patricia Franco, and the Mayor of Toledo, Milagros Tolón.

The president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño , highlighted in this act “the importance of the Capital of Toledo, since it will allow reinforcing Spain's international leadership in Social Economy at a European level, in a year in which we will also work with Social Economy Europe , so that the European Action Plan for the Social Economy is ready to be approved in 2021 ”. Pedreño confirmed that it will work closely with the Government of Spain, the Government of Castilla la Mancha and the Toledo City Council, for the development of the ambitious plan of activities scheduled for the coming months, works that will include Social Economy Europe and the Euro-Mediterranean RED of the Social Economy ”.

The Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz , stated that “the capital of Toledo places the Social Economy as a backbone at a decisive moment after the crisis caused by Covid-19. It is an engine of transformation based on people ”. Diaz highlighted the internal commitmentThe Spanish Government assumes this capital, taking over from other European cities.

Díaz added that "the Social Economy is not only part of the solution for recovery, after the health crisis, but an essential pillar of European construction and of forced social innovation". During the event, "the logo of the Capital of Toledo was presented, which will be the image of the numerous activities planned both locally, autonomically and internationally that will make it possible to spread this business and future model, the primary objective of the Spanish presidency."

During her speech, the minister highlighted the important role that CEPES plays "a true travel companion in the task of making this business model visible and promoting it."

The mayoress of Toledo, Milagros Tolón , expressed her satisfaction with the announcement of Toledo as the European capital of the Social Economy, “a fact that constitutes a ray of hope for the opportunity it represents not only for the city, but for the commitment to the Economy So important social right now and that it is also a great economic and social muscle that energizes the territory. " Toldón showed his absolute commitment to place Toledo as the flag of the European Social Economy.

The counselor Patricia Franco publicly thanked the Government of Spain for putting Toledo on the international agenda of the Social Economy, a powerful sector in Castilla-La Mancha. Franco explained the numerous measures and initiatives of his Government to support and enhance this business model. During his speech he announced the Preparation of the White Book on Social Economy in the Community and also the preparation of a Strategic Plan for the Social Economy.
