Murcia leads the quota reserved for disabled people in companies and organizations of the Social Economy

According to study results presented today, Murcia is among the leading regions fulfilling the quota reserved for people with disabilities by companies and entities of the Social Economy.

  • 6.2% of workers in companies and organizations of the Social Economy at the state level have disabilities, a percentage much higher than observed in commercial companies (1.7%)

(Murcia, June 19, 2015) .- The Murcia region is among the regions leading the fulfillment of the quota reserved for people with disabilities by companies and entities of the Social Economy.

This is one of the main conclusions of the study 'The social economy as an engine of employment for people with disabilities' prepared by the ONCE Foundation and the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) and presented today at the University of Murcia. In this event spokesman and Minister of the Presidency and Employment of the Region of Murcia, José Gabriel Ruiz, attended the president of the Territorial Council of ONCE Murcia, Teresa Lajarón; CEPES president, Juan Antonio Pedreño; and the Director of Social Relations, international and strategic plans of the ONCE Foundation, Miguel Angel Cabra de Luna.

One of the main findings is that companies and state level institutions incorporate social economy "a much higher percentage" of people with disabilities in their workforce (6.2% of workers) compared with the rest of trading companies (1.7%).

By region, significant differences are observedin fulfilling the reservation fee for people with disabilities by companies and entities of the Social Economy. The highest compliance level (between 70% and 75%) is composed of Murcia, Asturias, Cantabria, Andalusia, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Castilla y Leon. By contrast, Galicia, Navarra and the Basque Country are the regions with lower levels of compliance, with a lower percentage to 35%.

Increased recruitment

The presidential advisor and Employment of the Region of Murcia, José Gabriel Ruiz highlighted "the convenience that has the presentation in Murcia of this study of ONCE Foundation and CEPES, which coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of UCOMUR and the publication of the study of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security about hiring people with disabilities, which it reflects that contracts grew in the region of Murcia, between January and May, up 30% compared to 18% of the national average ".

Ruiz also said that "these data endorse two actions: the creation of a specific program called 'Integros in employment, directed for this group, and, secondly, the Social Economy pact by which four million are allocated euros to support companies in this sector, which is a boost for thehiring people with disabilities "

"Companies and organizations of the Social Economy," said Pedroza, "are the most permeable placement for people with disabilities, and act as an appropriate stage of normalization and give visibility to the socio-professional integration of these persons , promoting their access to the labor market. "

Regarding the study that was presented, he said the goal is to "raise awareness of the talents of people with disabilities as workers and profitable workers, and show that having these people in the templates is a competitive advantage for companies that bet on them both the economymarket, and the Social Economy".

In the report they attended the main representative organizations of the Social Economy of Murcia, including the Union of Cooperatives of Murcia (UCOMUR), the Union of Cooperative Education in the Region of Murcia (UCOERM), the Association of Social Economy enterprises in the Region of Murcia (AMUSAL)The Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Murcia (FECOAM) and the Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations Murcia (FECAMUR). Representatives of these entities were challenged to improve statistics hiring people with disabilities.

 

Social-Economy encounters FSC Inserts

Under the agreement signed collaboration between the ONCE Foundation and CEPES, they will be held various regional meetings between entities of the Social and FSC-Insert economics, human resources consultant of ONCE Foundation, in order to foster mutual knowledge and publicize the specialized services offered by theentity for the employment of people with disabilities.

After the presentation in Murcia, new upcoming meetings with FSC-Enter Social Economy companies in Andalusia, Aragon, Navarra, Valencia, the Basque Country and Catalonia will be held.

The aim of these events is that companies and entities of the Social Economy aware services FSC Inserts and therefore, their rates will improve employment of people with disabilities.
