Available a new study Ciriec-Spain on cooperatives, as enterprises in the implementation model of CSR

The study, prepared by professors José Luis Monzón and Isidro Antuñano, analyzes twenty cases of cooperatives that are distinguished by their social responsibility strategies.

 (26/04/2013) -Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility is already quite developed in the Spanish cooperative sector, which brings a special sensitivity in various fields such responsibility, such as those relating to work and family reconciliation, environmental sustainability and economic momentum social and environment. This is the main conclusion of the study 'Cooperative and Corporate Social Responsibility. Twenty cases of cooperatives socially responsible ', published by Ciriec-Spain sponsored by the Directorate General Self-Employment, Social Economy and CSR (Ministry of Employment and Social Security), Government of Spain. The study was conducted by professors José Luis Monzón, professor at the University ofValencia (UV) and President of Ciriec-Spain, and Isidro Antuñano, UV professor.

As the authors explain in the book performed an analysis of the policies, actions and CSR reports of a group of twenty cooperatives that stand out in this field for very different reasons, but they have in common the quality of their strategies CSR.

The selected companies have been, in alphabetical order, Abacus, ACOREX, Alimer, Anecoop, Caja Laboral, Cajamar, Consum, Coopinte, Eduvic, Enercoop, Eroski, Fagor, Feiraco, Florida, Gredos San Diego, Kairos, Koopera, The Fageda, Nafarco and St. Crispin.

For the configuration of the sample were consulted and documentation services to the Board of Ciriec-Spain, as well as institutions and personalities of the cooperative sector. It has also sought to achieve a balance between regions, company age, size, types cooperatives and the sector in which they operate.

Policy analysis, Proceedings of CSR and salient features of each cooperative

The book has followed a unified scheme by which, first, is a brief general introduction to each company studied. Then the analysis focuses on issues such as CSR policy of the entity and its inclusion in the mission and values "?"?of the same, the characteristics of the Memoirs or CSR Reports / RSC cast, and the most salient features of their activities accountable for their key stakeholders and the environment.

After that, we discuss the available indicators of the impact of the cooperative, including most relevant awards or recognition in CSR achieved by each entity, and concludes by briefly summarizing some of the highlights or novel CSR of each company.

Different ways to understand and apply CSR

The analysis shows that there are different ways to understand and apply CSR by cooperatives from different economic and social sectors located in different territories, and financial and labor dimension variable.

Therefore, the authors express their hope that the study will be useful for the cooperative world extension of the concept of social responsibility, its objectives, the different methodologies for its implementation, the wide range of socially responsible activities can be deployed according to thecases, and the importance of communication to all stakeholders of each cooperative and society as a whole.
