The Spanish Retail Union (UNIDE Cooperative Society) is a food distribution cooperative with over 90 years of history and over 1,300 points of sale in Spain.
It originated in 1931 with the founding of GRUMA (formerly Ducpra) with more than 200 food merchant members from Madrid. In the 1960s, it expanded to the neighboring provinces of Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha; and in the 1990s, it merged with six other Spanish cooperatives.ñolas: ADA of Orihuela, LA SANTA FAZ of Alicante, SECUC of Cáceres, COISCA of Las Palmas, COMALTE of Tenerife and UDACO of Salamanca, giving rise to the current UNIDE.
It currently has 7 regional offices, 2 main logistics platforms, and 6 satellite platforms. As well as 15Cash Unide is aimed at professional purchasing in the hospitality and catering sector on the Peninsula and the Canary Islands.
With around 700 partners spread across 28 provinces, Unide operates more than 600 stores under the Unide Market, Unide Supermarkets, Unide Alimentación , and Udaco brands.
They are committed to local commerce, the successful development of their partners' businesses as independent food retailers, and serving the communities where they operate, promoting local products, providing employment opportunities, and revitalizing the most underpopulated areas of Spain.
With a strong presence in rural areas of our country, they have a strong presence in small towns: more than 50% of Unide stores are located in towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, aiming to reach where no one else can.
