REAS is a national, confederal network of alternative and solidarity economy networks comprised of more than a thousand entities and companies integrated into 16 regional networks and six sectoral networks. It is a non-profit association with no political or religious affiliation. We are present internationally through RIPESS, the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economy, present on all continents.

REAS's mission is to contribute to the generation of alternatives to the prevailing economic model, understanding economic processes as a means—and not an end—to the development of individuals and communities. To this end, we promote processes of social transformation within the framework of a Charter of Principles of the Solidarity Economy, placing life-sustaining processes at the center of socioeconomic activity and placing people, communities, peoples, cultures, the environment, and common goods above capital and its accumulation.

In this way, the Solidarity Economy develops alternative initiatives in all spheres of the economic cycle (financing, production, marketing and consumption), from values related to, among others, cooperation, reciprocity, self-managementtion and solidarity. All of this from a transformative perspective that seeks to build more communitarian, democratic, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable economies. In short, economies that are feminist, ecological, and supportive.

In short, at REAS we promote an alternative economic model with a triple dimension:

  1. Economic model: We provide critical thinking capable of questioning the current model and proposing a new framework.
  2. Practical Experiences: We build alternatives in all phases of the economic cycle, from production to consumption.
  3. Social movement: We connect with other realities that challenge the economic and social order to develop a framework for coexistence in which there is room for everyone.
